A Day in Life of A Homeschooler

By Juliana, age 11

Teaching and Learning

In my classroom, adults teach and children do, too. When our company came over we went down in the wash. Our company taught us about rocks, formations, birds, plants, animals and bones. They taught me that you can only find fossils normally. They taught us that geodes are found in dull colored rocks. While I was teaching them about animals, plants, rocks and bones, too.

While I was walking along the path in our wash you’ll never guess what I found?! I found the bottom jaw of a javalena! It was so cool. The jaw even had all of its teeth and both tusks. I taught our company that by looking at the teeth of an animal you can tell whether the animal is a herbivore, carnivore or an omnivore.

After finding the javalena jaw and teaching about it we went back home. Then I found javalena prints. I told our company that I knew that they were javalena prints because of their toes. Best of all, Mom said that they were good enough to cast, too.

After eating dinner I went to bed. Then I thought about what I had learned. That night I went to bed relaxed knowing that I taught them and they taught me.
