The
Coolest Homeschool Day
This
was the coolest school day in my life. I was really excited about
all that happened.
To
start off with, we had company. Miss Penny and Mr. Chas were visiting
from Virginia. They had never been to our house before. That day,
we were having breakfast on the patio when Mr. Chas saw a coyote.
We decided, since it had just rained, that the coyote might have
left footprints. We looked around the yard and we saw javelina prints
instead of coyote prints. They looked like small deer prints. We
even saw baby javelina prints. We had never seen baby javelina footprints
before! Days before, my sisters and I had made a path in the yard
and we think that the javelina liked it because that’s where we
found some of the footprints. We wanted to keep the footprints,
so we made plaster casts of them. Now we have them on our mantel.
Later
that day we decided to go down in the wash below our house to look
for more footprints. We saw some coyote prints. We think we found
a geode, too. On the way back we split up and Miss Penny and my
sister, Julie, discovered a javelina skull. We’d never found anything
like that before! After our company left and we were doing school
work, we couldn’t take our mind off the javelina jaw. I couldn’t
wait to show Dad that night. That was the most exciting school day
of my life. I’m glad I homeschool.
